This sequence shows the sequence of getting the boat from the bottom to the top.

Spring has finally sprung and hopefully following our wettest winter on record we will see plenty of spring sunshine, wildlife and colourful nature. It is the time when Britain wakes up from its winter hibernation and there are many activities in our March Diary from Pancake Day races and football through to Spring Shows and festivals.

Today is also the start of the NEW photographic show at the NEC in Birmingham, The Photography Show. The major UK show of the year filling the gap left behind after the successful Focus on Imaging Show decided to come to an end. If you haven't been able to attend today, it is still running until Tuesday. With the decrease in High Street photo shops and increase in internet shopping this show provides a good place to get to your hands on and see new gear and to see all the accessories and other useful photographic equipment available.

Two Patron Saints are celebrated this month with Wales and welsh communities celebrating St David's Day today, and on the 17th Ireland and Irish communities celebrating St Patrick's Day, with festivals, parades and more.

Wales' national flower is the Daffodil and the first sign of spring 'springing into action' is the emergence of the Daffodil from its annual hibernation underground, through the surface in gardens, along the roadside, town parks and in woodlands. Some really good locations to see and photograph them can be found in our Daffodil location list. Or if you're in Gloucestershire then the Kempley Daffodil Weekend on the 15th and 16th provides a good way to see wild daffodils in their natural habitat while taking a stroll on a woodland walks.

We have loads of information on this website for not only the technical side of photography, but also for ideas and suggestions for getting out and about whatever your interest, with many photographs illustrating what you might see when you get there. Take a look at our various indexes to find something either near where you live or near where you are planning to visit in the coming months.

Don't forget at the end of the month, 30th March, British Summertime begins with the clocks going forward one hour.

Let's Explain How This Resource Works

One of the most popular features is a monthly diary covering interesting and unusual things on, around the UK, in the two months ahead.

Everything that appears, or ever has, is indexed in a number of ways, alphabetically, by topic, by county, and often linked into sections. Many of the sections have their own front doorways so people with specific interests have direct access through these doors to their area of interest.

Up until July 2012 we also produced a monthly newsletter as apart of this resource, but like magazines going over the years we found it becoming a little repetitive, so decided to concentrate on the resource development and drop the newsletter issues. You can get back to see every newsletter, from the beginning, via our recent editions link.

All of our links are coded showing you if it's an external link or one of our own pages and when it is, the type of page it is. You will find a key to the most popular ones at the bottom of the contents panel on the left and clicking on any of the symbols will bring up a full list. Holding your mouse over one of these symbols tells you what it means.

If this is your first visit, click here to find out how you might best use this site to help you find what you are looking for.
