Shire Horse Show 2014. For a featured video of this event see SHS2014

March is the start of Spring in the UK and our wildlife, nature and fauna starts to come back to life after their winter slumber. Mad March hares can be seen running about the ploughed fields, and wild daffodil walks in Worcestershire are a favourite. March is also the month where lots of events and activities start to take place throughout the UK and our diary

Your First Visit

pages become much fuller with more opportunities for you to explore and visit for those photo opportunities.

For photographers, The Photography Show takes place from the 19th at the NEC in Birmingham. This is the main show for both professional and amateur photographers within the UK. A visit gets you to see all the latest models of photo camera from the likes of Nikon and Canon plus others and all the other peripheral kit available to you. As well as getting the opportunity to experiment with new gadgets, and try out your photo skills with catwalk type shows on offer and so much more.

March 2016 is also busy with events of the more unusual kind especially with the Easter holidays at the end, with events such as the Bolney Pram Race in West Sussex, the Bottle Kicking and Hare Pie Scramble in Leicestershire and the World Coal Carrying Championships in Yorkshire. It's also the month of two patron saint celebrations, in Wales they celebrate St David's day on the 1st, and Ireland has St Patrick's Day on the 17th. Then celebrating all things good about our Mum's is on Mothers Day, the 6th March.

For the animal lover there is Crufts (everything doggie!) at the NEC, Birmingham starting on the 10th, for the horse lover there is the Cheltenham Festival and it's Gold Cup from the 15th, the Shire Horse Spring Show on the 18th, and the London Harness Horse Parade taking place in Ardingly, West Sussex over the Easter weekend. There is so much more to do, just take a look at the diary pages for the next two months and you are sure to find something of interest to you.

Don't forget British Summer Time begins on the 27th, your clocks will need to go forward ONE hour.

We are upgrading this website

We are moving from a Microsoft Frontpage based website to something much newer and more flexible, run on our Apple systems. This is a major change and is going on in the background.

Our Windows computer is often difficult to start and we have decided that should it fail, before the new system is live, we will allow a gap of a month or two to occur rather than waste time setting up outdated systems as a temporary measure. So if we go missing for a month or two please check back regularly as we will be back. Hopefully there will be no problem and we will be able, in the near future, to switch over to the new system and as you may have noticed we have been out collecting a vast amount of more information to expand it.

Let's Explain How This Resource Works

Our most popular feature is the monthly diary covering interesting and unusual things on, around the UK, in the two months ahead. Our monthly front page/newsletter, from the beginning, is still available and can be accessed via our 'recent editions' link.

Everything that appears amongst these pages, or ever has, is indexed in a number of ways, alphabetically, by topic, by county, and often linked in to sections. Many of the sections have their own front doorways so people with specific interests have direct access through these doors to their area of interest.

All of our links are coded showing you if it's an external link or one of our own pages and when it is, the type of page it is. A key to the most popular codes is at the bottom of the contents panel on the left and clicking on any of the symbols will bring up a full list. On any page, holding your mouse over one of these symbols tells you what it means.
