Its well and truly summertime in the UK and for the first week the weather forecast is for scorching hot weather. Towards the end of the month, the schools in England and Wales break for their 6 week long summer holidays and for those of you staying in the UK it's a good opportunity to visit some of our stunning coastlines.

which not only give you breath taking views of the coast, but will also get you close to the many Lighthouses

and some historical features such as Castles

and forts. Down on the beach you can also get close to wrecks when the tide is out, or in the rock pools find small creatures under the rocks sheltering from the heat and waiting for the tide to come back in. You may even come across large jellyfish that have been washed up or see people having fun trying to keep kites in the air. There are many coastal photography opportunities.

If you're more inland you could visit one of the many Historic Houses and Gardens around the country, like Sheffield Park and Garden in Sussex that has water features and colourful gardens and wooded areas. Whilst visiting these places don't forget to keep any eye open for the small creatures like bees feeding on the flowers or under your feet there could be Grasshoppers. In water features, such as ponds, rivers and canals you will also see Dragonflies and Damselflies, all good material for having a go at Macro Photography outdoors, don't forget to take your tripod with you though.

July is also the month when in Berkshire the Mute Swans and Cygnets on the River Thames are counted for the annual Swan Upping.  You will also find pairs of Swans with their young on rivers and canals, or if you are on the south coast and are able to visit Abbotsbury Swannery  near Weymouth in Dorset then you will find large numbers in one place.

So grab your camera and while the sun in shining, the days are longer and there is so much to see and do, go outdoors and see what you can capture.
