Organisation Membership Benefits

English Heritage Membership Benefits

As a member of English Heritage you get the following benefits:-

  • Free entry to over 400 properties for up to 6 accompanying children (under 19) within your family group.
  • A welcome pack with full-colour guide to all properties.
  • Members' quarterly magazine, Heritage Today.
  • Free or reduced price admission to events - some events like the Annual Festival of History still requires members to pay an entry fee, although this is reduced over what normal members of the public pay.
  • Half-price admission to historic properties in Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man (FREE after your first year of membership).
  • Reduced price entry to many other historic sites in England.
  • The opportunity to participate in a diverse range of heritage related activities from lectures and behind-the-scene tours to short breaks and world cruises.

Prices change on an annual basis so rather than putting them here, it is better that you take a look at their membership section, where you can also join online.

National Trust Membership Benefits

  • FREE entry and parking at more than 300 historic houses and gardens.
  • FREE parking at their countryside and coastline locations.
  • A Members’ Handbook – the complete guide to all of the places you can visit.
  • Regional Newsletters packed with details of special events at locations near you.
  • Three editions of their magazine, featuring news, views, gardening and letters, exclusively for members.
  • Information about Centres and Associations  in your area.
  • FREE admission to properties cared for by the National Trust for Scotland.
  • They also have agreements with a number of other countries. If you’re visiting any of these places and have a valid membership card, you could visit their National Trust facilities for FREE or at a concessionary rate.

National Trust for Scotland Membership Benefits

  • Free access to over 300 properties throughout Britain (including free admission to National Trust properties in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and others worldwide).
  • Free car parking at The National Trust for Scotland sites when displaying your membership sticker.
  • Complimentary copy of `Guide to Properties` listing all properties, travel directions, opening times etc.
  • 3 issues each year of  `Scotland in Trust` magazine.
  • Join a Members´ Centre. There are 39 Member Groups throughout Scotland, along with one in Cambridge and one in London. Groups help organise fundraising events, guide at properties and help run some of the shops. Each group has a varied programme of talks and outings for everyone to enjoy. Cadw Membership Benefits

  • Free admission to all Cadw attractions, from Caerphilly Castle, Castell Coch and Tintern Abbey in the south to world-famous Caernarfon and Harlech castles in the north.
  • Half price admission to hundreds of sites in England and Scotland, from Stonehenge to Edinburgh Castle. When you rejoin ‘Heritage in Wales’ without a break, then admission to the historic sites in all three countries is free. (National Trust properties and Historic Royal Palaces such as the Tower of London are not included).

  • Special Entitlements For Life And Joint Life Members. As well as gaining free admission to sites in the care of Cadw, English Heritage and Historic Scotland, Life/Joint Life members may each take their children under 16 years of age or one adult guest, free of charge.

  • Free quarterly magazine keeping you informed with features on history and heritage conservation projects and places to visit.

Historic Houses Association Friends Membership Benefits

Individuals or families who do not own historic houses but who have an interest in and enjoy visiting them and their gardens, and subscribe to the aims of the Association. Benefits include:

  • Being able to visit free nearly 300 HHA Member properties that are open to the public. Free to Friends   is a list of the current properties available to visit.
  • Copies of the HHA's quarterly magazine Historic House and Activities supplement
  • Annual booklet Houses and Gardens which Members and Friends may Visit
  • Opportunities to join special regional tours to properties, many not generally open to the public, which are organised by the HHA's volunteer Regional Friends Representatives
