Our Notes
-
Small
easy to carry camera, with minimal controls, but easily set using the rear
panel. Its not as quick to operate as the larger models with controls more
easily available.
-
Makes
a great small second camera to carry in your handbag or briefcase, also a good
choice as a first camera for a teen interested in photography but not
the budget to support it.
-
This
camera replaced the D40x, but has a self cleaning sensor. If you have a D40x,
there are few advantage in upgrading except for this, although the
active d-lighting feature is useful.
-
It
wont auto focus some lenses that models above will, as its has no mechanical
drive for the focus, so lenses have to be able to focus with inbuilt motors in
the lens. Silent wave lenses are OK. If moving from a film camera its likely
your lenses wont work with this camera, but would with models above.
-
If
getting one, get the kit, rather than body alone as there is small lightweight
zoom to go with it.
