We are attempting to list all places where
photographers can photograph from spectacular viewpoints within the Lake
district and Cumbria. This is the start of a list
that will both grow over time and
hopefully we will be able to add more columns or information.
Where the names in the first column is hyperlinked
this links to a Location page with more information on this
site and over time more of these will be added, we will be delighted if some of
you would like to also produce location pages.

From the A595 past Broughton in Furness take
the minor road through Broadgate and follow, pass Swinside Stone Circle
footpath and over the cattle grid and up onto Thwaites Fell, at the Y
junction take a left, this road is very narrow and wiggles across the top
and down the other side across a bridge over Buckbarrow Beck and on through
Corney Fell going on down to Broad Oak where you can rejoin the A595. From
this road you get some fantastic views of the mountains, but also as you're
coming back down towards Broad Oak there are some fantastic views of the
sea. |

On the B5289
at the southern end of Borrowdale.
One of the most
scenic and most popular routes, the road over the Honister Pass
follows the route traveled by Victorian sightseers on circular day trips
from Keswick. The road climbs from Borrowdale, to a height of 1176ft, before plunging down a precipitous grade
through the Wrynose Pass and ending up at Buttermere below. An historic slate works is located at the summit, and a National
Trust car park allows visitors to
see
the fabulous views. |
