The Bishops Wood Reserve is located above Caswell Bay on the Gower Peninsula. It is a limestone woodland and grassland cover about 46 acres. Part of the wood is classified as ancient woodland, which means it has been wooded since the 17th century. It was designated a local Nature Reserve in 1975 and a special area of conservation in 2004. At the top of the reserve is the Countryside Centre, a timber framed roundhouse, which acts as a shelter and a centre of activities and events all year round. It is managed by the City and County of Swansea's Development Department to conserve and encourage wildlife diversity and provides access and information to visitors and schools. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
