RHS Garden Rosemoor

Great Torrington, Devon

Location Guide

One of the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). A 65 acre garden set in the Torridge Valley.

The original garden was only 8 acres and was started in 1959 by Lady Anne Berry and gifted to the RHS in 1988, it has been greatly developed into the 65 acre garden that can be seen today.

Spring sees a carpet of snowdrops and primroses, followed by the rhododendrons. Summer ouses colour with the flower borders and 2000 roses in the rose garden, while autumns harvest of fruit and vegetables as well as the tints of autumn colour in the arboretum make this an all year round venue.

Highlights include:

  • Lady Anne’s original garden

  • Rose Garden’s (with over 2000 roses)

  • the Fruit and Vegetable Garden

  • the Arboretum

  • Lake, waterfall and Bog Garden

  • Three model Gardens

  • Herb Garden and Potager

  • Cottage Garden

  • Woodland walks

More than 70 events are held at Rosemoor, including exhibitions and workshops, lectures and walks, family events, craft fairs and musical events throughout the year. In April they host the RHS Rhododendron Show.
