Dunge Valley Hidden Gardens

High Peak, Cheshire

Location Guide

Dunge, pronounced as Dungeon, is in a hidden valley in the Pennine Hills, the Gardens are constantly changing; with plants being moved about and new planting taking place. It has one of the most comprehensive selections of Rhododendrons in the UK.

A kaleidoscope of colour takes place through their opening season and includes such features as Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Magnolias, Acers and the Blue Poppy. These and many other plants, growing to 1,000ft plus, some of which have been collected as seed whilst the owner was Trekking in Nepal and in Arunachal Pradesh. Examples for your own garden are for sale in the Hardy Plant Nursery.

There is a collection of over 550 species and hybrid Rhododendrons giving the feel of you being hidden in a Himalayan valley, with streams, waterfalls, ponds, bridges, bog gardens and a wide variety of unusual perennials, trees and shrubs in a magnificent setting.
